A full rebuild of the main website and the supporting web portals
- Role
- Website

- React · Vite · Cypress · MUI · Next.js · Contentful
- Outcome
- Rebuilt the main site. Rebuilt the business portals
AnyJunk is on-demand bulky waste collection. You book online, a crew turns up, the stuff goes to a licensed recycling site. Man-and-van clearance, skip hire, skip bags. Householders, trades, councils, landlords; they’ve been doing this since around 2004.
I rebuilt the public site. The original was in WordPress; I migrated it to a Next.js and Contentful setup. This saw a large improvement to performance, UX and most importantly - SEO.
Behind the website Anyjunk has a suite of portals that cater to each different avenue of the business - Office, Customers, Special Partners etc. When I joined this collection of portals was showing its age, was difficult to use and was proving painful to maintain.
I led a two pronged approach of keeping the lights on whilst rebuilding the portals in a cutting edge React stack using Material UI. The business logic in the applications was untangled, reorganised and structured in a way that will help developers in the future to work on it going forward.
